# logout
> Reference for motherduck logout, which removes the token saved by motherduck login.
Remove saved token.

This deletes `${MOTHERDUCK_HOME:-~/.motherduck}/credentials.json`, written by
[`login`](./login.md) or [`new`](./new.md). It has no effect on the environment
variable `MOTHERDUCK_TOKEN`.

## Usage

```bash
motherduck logout
```

`logout` has no formatted output, so it doesn't take `-o, --output`.
